Sister Leopolda uses her power, control, and influence to repress Marie's ideas down. Marie would feel sad, or lost in the darkness. She attempts to push Sister Leopolda in the oven because she felt the pressure, and the grudge against Sister because Sister wouldn't treat her fairly like the others. In the end, she will learn that the sisters of the convent would never be able to accept her culture and race. As she was in bed resting, she gave up hope and she just accepts the truth of Sister Leopolda and the reality.
Sister Leopolda- Sister Leopolda is the main source of conflict or the evil and wicked villain. She displays herself as the demanding and forceful sister. Sister Leopolda display to readers as being bias and she contradicts Marie's race or culture. She will say evil and nasty comments to Marie such as "If you're good you'll taste this cheese again. When I'm dead and gone." She want to infer to Marie that she will never eat the cheese again until she is dead. In sister's own way she explains that Marie will never receive the authority or power.
Sister Leopolda continues to display her personality as the evil sister. She would use her leg to step on Marie's neck, stabs her hand with a fork, and knock her out on the floor. She would treat Marie very harshly with abuse. In the end, Sister Leopolda is a liar because she told the other sisters that Marie fainted because of poison rather than her problem. Sister acts like she didn't do anything and she put the blame on Marie.
